Panforte di Siena i.g.p. is a densely packed winter fruitcake with almonds and spices. Gorgeous with an after dinner coffee.
 
Panforte was prepared for the first time in 1879 on the occasion of a visit to Siena by Queen Margherita to attend the Palio. The event gave the opportunity to present a Panforte that better reflected the evolution of taste and consumer preferences.
Since 2013, Panforte Margherita has become Panforte di Siena IGP following the awarding of the prestigious European PGI certification.
