Time & Location

Nov 19, 2023, 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Wellington, 2nd Floor, Bell Tower, Tonedale Mill, Wellington TA21 0AW, UK

About the event

We will look at the core of linear and circular economy; discover the differences between recycling, upcycling and downcycling; and then take a sneak peek into our wardrobes to explore what can be done to extend the lifecycle of our beloved garments.

There will be discussion on why we should opt in to mending or upcycling clothes and learn about a range of ways to repair them, from darning and patching to fabric weaving or embroidery.

Concentrating on the latter, we will indulge ourselves into a lovely upcycling project – upgrading a knitted jumper to the next level. You will be able to choose from floral, geometric or Christmas theme patterns.

Participants should bring a knitted jumper. If you don’t have spare wool, don’t worry, there will be plenty to choose from . Patterns, needles and the Embroidery Stitching Guide will be also provided.

The workshop will be run by Joanna from Slow and Circular, a keen upcycler, bag maker and nature lover, with support from Rachael

Ticket price £45
