One of the most popular things to do on Pasquetta (Easter Monday) across all of Italy is to go for a picnic. The snow which we currently have forecast here in Somerset may prevent that this year but we are planning a living room camp out instead with some of our favourite picnic dishes.
Asparagus is in season now and Bassano Del Grappa is famed for the white asparagus so this will certainly feature, served typically with a egg boiled, mashed and served with salt, pepper and olive oil. .
A Pasquetta alternative to the traditional picnic in Stefano's home town is the Gusta Giro where many homes, farms and producers through the town open their doors and set up pop-up dining spaces where visitors can sample delights and delicacies before continuing the walk on towards the next home. The last time we were there was 2016 on a slightly overcast day but the threat of rain did not dampen spirits. Maybe there is hope for our picnic in the snow this year after all!
